Pickens Master Gardeners Help Out at AmicalolaState Park
Anita Rosen and Debbie Dickson, newly graduated Master Gardeners from Pickens County, have undertaken as part of their community service, a project to improve the Visitors’ Center at AmicalolaState Park.They, with the help of other new Master Gardeners including Bob Putman, Tricia Turner, Pam Elliott and Larry Brogdon, have succeeded in clearing the area of dead material and have trimmed the remaining plants. The next step will be planting new material, concentrating on the use of native plants, and relocating some existing shrubbery this fall. Debbie and Anita expect the project to take a few years before the area is revitalized and will continue to monitor its progress in the future.
